Sweaty, sweet Summer.
Phhhheewww! I remember thinking NZ summer was hot, but man oh man I didn't have a clue. Florida in Summer is brutal. It's all slow moving, AC, ice cream and evenings outside (if you can put up with the humidity).

The world is damn beautiful.
Spending a few days in the Dominican Republic left an impression on my soul. That sounds pretty OTT, but there's something about being exposed to a beautiful, raw culture and surroundings that realign your priorities and make you grateful for what you have.

I feel guilty for sleeping in, lounging around and not working in the evenings. But you know what? I got to enjoy it while I can. Relax, mate.

I have an infatuation for vintage packaging. There's something so whimsical and interesting about the typography and patterns.

Whenever I feel a lull in my work, and especially in my self-drive, I turn to other designers and mentors. Why? Because they go through the same ups and downs of work, and continue to push themselves in their 'down time'. That's gives me a boot up the bum and keeps me going.

Such is life.
Do you ever catch yourself looking back through old work and photos from previous cities and reminiscing the times you spent there? I stumbled upon this work I created at Panacea3, and was reminded of the craziness of NYC: The noises, the smells, the endless inspiration. Frank Sinatra may have been right: "If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere".

But the few brave ones, both companies and individuals, who risk comfort and safety for a chance at beauty or being able to move someone — they have a potential to gain so much more.

I get to a certain point at the end of a busy week when I cannot to turn off my thinking cap, plop myself in front of my paint splattered desk, surround myself with: tea, incense, Twin Peaks and paint projects. Talking about deadlines is banned. See you there.

Behind the Screams.
It's not very often you get help Art Direct a video shoot for a whole bunch of dinosaurs. Making dinosaur mouth drool is now something I can add to my resume. Check out the final TVC the ChappellRoberts team created here
