Challenge. Waiheke Sustainability Centre is a non-profit based in the heart of Oneroa, Waiheke Island. Their mission and vision is to educate the locals and visitors on how to live sustainably. They wanted a logo that represented their goals, and that would become an additional local icon.
Solution. The one thing we all want from a sustainable town, is a connected community and a healthy, symbiotic environment. I wanted to portray this in the logo, by showing a closed circle. The elements within the logo are of iconic enclosed bays, the sun rising, and two different kinds of water; to depict both sea and fresh water (Waiheke Resources Trust protect both bodies of water.) To show their positive mission, I included a kereru in flight. To help make the logos (3 variations) memorable and iconic, I included bright, bold and almost kitsch colors and legible, modern typography.
